make do and mend:
'via Blog this'
when we first arrived in France on holiday, we came across this little house, it was actually a bungalow, and i hate bungalows, but the land around it was so beautiful, i just fell in love with it, the garden was full of bluebells and aconites, the grass was a bit high, because it had been used as a holiday home, and the elderly couple who owned it were now extremely old, and it had become unmanageable for them.
Well, to cut a long story short we came home put our house on the market, and a few months later we landed in France lock, stock, and barrel, wondering if we'd done the right thing......
What your about to see, are the before pictures...
This was the front of the house
This was the rear
As you can see, the garden, hadnt been kept up to, and this was after we had cut the grass!!
This is the right hand side view.
All the wood was rotten and had been painted in a thick coat of weatherproof paint.....
After seven years of hard work, the main of it done in the first eight months, by my wonderful husband, we are just now going around tweaking it so its more us, as it was a rush, for the first winter, which was very harsh, and with no insulation anywhere, things where done fast !!!
Here are some after piccies....
We have actually recently added more lead work to the window sills, I will load more piccies later, i hope you like what we did.
Next time , I will show you more of the before piccies of the inside, it has to be seen to be believed...
see you here soon xx
