Geese, my four geese like nothing better than to wait at the top of my steps, on a morning in the hope of getting some bread, if only I could let you hear the noise they make !! theyre very vocal.

They're quite partial to a french baguette, although I try not to give this to them too often as its very fattening, and we dont want to have fat geese as we dont eat them theyre just pets.

We have kept geese now for 7 years and we wouldnt be without them, they are very friendly and they let me know when theres any predators around which wouldnt be good for the chooks or ducks. My geese are white embsey's which are non aggressive, although I dont know if they would be more aggressive if I wasnt here and someone came into the garden uninvited !! Let me know if you have any geese and your experiances with them, i'd love to know.....

Although this piccie shows 5 geese, this year we lost our 9 year old dickie, he was a good leader , a male, but he was old and he died peacefully 3 weeks ago, we miss him as he was quite a character. Its sad when you loose a much loved family pet, but he went in his sleep, and i feel better that he didnt linger or suffer in any way. We have another, male, Harry and hes taken over leading the females around the garden, at any given time you tell what time it is with regard to the position there in. They have a very strong regime, marching in the garden and where they are at certain times.

I would recommend having geese if you can, but they do require quite a lot of space for grazing, and they do need to be put in at night away from predators, they cant withstand a fox attack.
